The Wilson Hotel Going All GREEN

The rehabilitation process of the Wilson Hotel is targeting the LEED guidelines.  In addition to rehabilitating the hotel by the GREEN standards, the hotel will also be operating by GREEN standards when placed back into hospitality service.  This commitment to sustainability is paramount to the ownership team and a guiding principle by which the team abides. 

The green hotel movement generally encompasses three distinct disciplines:

 Design and construction, usually under the principles of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) 

Energy and resource management, encompassing alternative energy sources, water treatment, water management, indoor air quality and energy management;  

Hotel maintenance and operations using environmentally sound but effective products and systems.

Guests can also expect to see GREEN in room amenities at the Wilson Hotel.  Rooms will be stocked with recycled paper tissues, unbleached stationery and in-room recycling receptacles, while other, less-noticeable amenities like organic cotton and bamboo linens, air and water filtration systems, and environmentally-safe cleaning products will be commonplace.  Additionally, bulk hair shampoo and conditioner units will be installed in the showers with high volume low flow showerheads to address conservation goals.

Our objective is to encompass a “holistic” approach to providing a GREEN environment for our guests and patrons.  Our goal is to carry the whole “green built” rehabilitation effort through the entire project.  From the brick and mortar construction aspect all the way down to the bar of soap in the bathroom.  The GREEN hospitality sector is growing daily as more and more travelers become conscious of the GREEN movement and become committed to the cause of sustainability.  The GREEN efforts of the Wilson Hotel will not reflect a lack of luxury - - in fact, it will be just the opposite.  Our goal is to become luxuriously GREEN in all we do!  At the Wilson Hotel the true care and concern for our guests, their comfort and quality of their stay is at the top of our list.  Providing a great GREEN environment will show our commitment to that end.
