Creating A Historic Hospitality Experience

As we tackle the massive rehabilitation construction effort; co-currently we are in the process of planning and procuring the interior components of the hotel.  As experienced travelers ourselves, there are certain in room amenities and hotel attributes that we have come to really appreciate throughout our travel adventures.  Creating a “positive stay” for the patron is critical to building positive brand recognition spread by word of mouth – undoubtedly one of the strongest forms of marketing.

We believe that when you make a reservation at a “historic” hotel over the common chain hotel like Holiday Inn, Best Western, Days Inn, Econo Lodge, King Oscar or the like - - you are definitely ‘expecting’ a special experience.  Something unique, not the everyday run of the mill check in and check out experience.  As brand name chain hotels strive to bring something unique to the hospitality industry like Westin’s “heavenly bed” or Holiday Inn’s version of the ‘shower experience’ with pressurized Waterpick brand shower head units – historic hotels are a ‘brand’ of their own just by the fact that they are “historic” – limited in supply, novel and for the most part “one of a kind.”

Going beyond the stand out attraction of being “historic” we want our guests to have a five star experience while staying with us. It is our intention to be more than just “historic.”  It will be a given that we will have a great staff of customer focused team players who will strive to make each guest feel welcome, comfortable and appreciated.  The next step is thoughtful consideration for the traveler and exceeding their travel needs.  Trumping the ‘expected’ to impress the guest with the delightful surprise of the ‘unexpected.’  Success will be found in the small, but significant details that will make a stay at the Wilson Hotel memorable.

Luxury bamboo sheets, robes and slippers, distinctive reproduction furniture to compliment the in room décor, plush organic cotton terry towels, in room coffee makers, microwave, mini fridge and reading lamps, ceiling fans, in room heatalators, oversized tubs, distinctive vanity units with solid stone surface, excellent spa quality shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bath salts, excellent bathroom lighting, full length mirrors, quality hotel stationery, luxury bedding with oversized pillows, comfortable mattresses, extra blankets, flat screen HD TV, cat 5 high speed internet connection, CD & I pod docking players, in room honor bar… to name just a few of the treats that are in store for our future guests.

Added to the in room amenities will be the business center with internet access, fax and copy services, fitness pass, library, casual gathering room, morning breakfast service and the collection of distinctive businesses co-located with the Wilson.  Add in the charm of the “Hub City” Historic District and staying at the Wilson Hotel is sure to become a premier travel experience ~ one worth going home to tell your friends all about it!

Our objective is to do all things within our control to elevate the image of Hub City.  We believe that Historic Hub City has the potential to become THE premier heritage travel destination on the I-5 corridor in the Pacific Northwest.
